bAOBAB
An African legend depicts the first Baobab as so beautiful that, caught up in its appeal, it became quite arrogant. In response, the gods, seeking to give it a lesson, turned the tree upside down for eternity. Baobab uses poetic language to draw a parallel between this legend with issues of migration and territorial nature. Linking the symbolism of the uprooted tree “with its roots up in the air” with a search for belonging and origins.

ODE TO PHANES
Ode to Phanes
Nothing in this world happens isolated, our interconnected reality is now, more visible than ever. Our bodies contain information about these links; they let us know about our own connected, dissociated, shared, held, or abandoned inner spaces. Through our bodies, we can sense the intertwined nature of our human condition. My work “Ode to Phanes” is charged with the symbolism of these dynamics that I metaphorically relate to the mythical Orphic figure “Phanes”. The poem relates that Phanes, hatched from a cosmic egg as an androgynous deity, giving life to the universe. This symbolic figure, which contains it all, speaks to me about the inherited coexistence of all that is. "Ode to Phanes" draws from these narratives to create a charged atmosphere that speaks about universal dynamics like duality, oneness, individualization, and communion.
